Meditation

Meditation in Sheffield at …therapy*

Benefits of Meditation

  • Improved health – boosting the immune system
  • Stress relief
  • Decreased  levels of mind made illnesses such as anxiety, anger and depression
  • Increased levels of emotional wellbeing such as self awareness, self confidence and self-esteem
  • Slowing down of the ageing process
  • Greater ability to focus, faster reaction times, clearer thinking

… and the list goes on.

Put simply, meditation is the experience of the limitless nature of the mind when it ceases to be dominated by its usual mental chatter.

Think for a moment of the sky. If clouds continually cover the sky, we are never able to see its true nature. Roll the clouds away, and we experience the blue vastness of it in all its beauty. If the mind is continually clouded by thoughts, we are never able to experience it in and of its self. All that we experience is the cloud-cover of its contents. To experience the mind in this unclouded way is to experience the sense of being fully and vitally alive, yet at the same time deeply at peace within us.

Meditation does not ask us to relinquish our life experiences nor does it distrust the power of thought. It also does not ask us to become different or less interesting people that we are now.

Meditation does not take us away from the world, but helps us to become more clear sighted and effective people within it. It also helps us to become more sensitive and compassionate towards other people and an awareness of what it means to be human.

Many see meditation as something that is practised as part of a spiritual journey, research has confirmed though that meditation as many other beneficial effects on both our physical and mental health.  Learning to meditate is possibly the best present you could give yourself.

Learning meditation is not complicated; it does take time and requires practise and dedication. There are many ways to meditate, but when you are just starting out it is better to keep the technique simple, this way it is more likely to be enjoyable and makes it easier for you to meditate naturally and effectively. All that is required really is the willingness to keep an open mind and give it a go.
