Reiki, pronounced ray – key is a Japanese word that literally means universal - energy. This energy or ki is also known as Chi in China and Prana in India.
ki which flows through all living things has always been recognised in the east and worked with in Yoga, Tai Chi and eastern medicine, including Acupuncture. The free flow of Ki is vital to well being and Reiki promotes the bodies natural healing by rebalancing the flow of Ki.
The simple, hands-on healing technique was developed by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900s. Its popularity has spread all over the world, particularly throughout America and Western Europe.
Reiki is not a religion, as it holds no creed or doctrines. Neither is it based on a belief system, Reiki will happen even if the practitioner or receiver does not believe it will.

While we are healthy and strong, there is a powerful flow of energy running through our body. When we are feeling stressed or unwell, this flow of energy is reduced. Reiki is a simple and effective way of promoting the bodies natural healing by rebalancing the flow of ki.

Overall, Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive way of keeping healthy, balanced and relaxed.

The Treatment

During the Reiki treatment the practitioner places their hands in a number of non-intrusive positions over the receivers’ body, thereby acting as a channel for the Reiki to flow through. The energy flows through the receivers’ meridian system, naturally directing itself to the source of any imbalance.  The outcome of each individual treatment will be different, since it is determined not by the practitioner but, by the system of the person receiving the treatment. Each person draws in just the right amount of energy, this then flows to wherever the receiver needs it most to bring about the necessary changes.
